Severe Weather Conditions - PROCEDURE

We will always do our best to keep the school open and if you have not heard anything please assume that it is business as usual.

The school will only close if we have insufficient staff to supervise children or if it is believed that there would be undue risks to children and/or staff by travelling to school and/or the school site presents a risk to health and safety. If the weather forecast shows the likelihood of a marked deterioration during the course of the morning, we may also take the decision to close.

The Headteacher normally makes the decision about closure after consulting with staff about their travel conditions and considering the safety of the site. It is difficult to do this much in advance, because conditions can differ across the area and decisions are not made until early in the morning if there has been snow overnight. We will try to advise everyone by 07:00, latest by 07:30.

How will you be informed?

We will post a message on the Latest News page of the school website (https://www.tiggywinklespreschool.co.uk/stream/news/full/1/-/).
We will text and email you using our normal systems; please make sure the details held by the school are up to date. There may be a delay in the receipt of these messages due to network congestion.

Your decision

If you live some distance away you must make your own decision about road conditions and let us know if your child will not be attending.
